Американский музей естественной истории (в Нью-Йорке). Занимает целый ряд зданий по западной стороне Центрального парка, между 77-й и 81-й улицами. В музее имеются обширные экспозиции, посвящённые жизни человека и животных с первобытных времён до наших дней. Среди его экспонатов скелеты динозавров, макет кита в натуральную величину, крупнейший в мире сапфир (украденный и вновь найденный в 1964), уголки природы различных штатов и т.п. Музей пользуется особ. большой популярностью у детей
